Jill Purcell, RN-BSN
As a wife and mother of three young children, Jill embarked on the adventure of nursing school, a path that would shape her career and passion for patient care. After completing her Associate in Nursing Degree in just 18 months at Corning Community College, Jill was offered an incredible opportunity in Oncology at a local hospital. Her work in this area allowed her to hone her skills in hospice and end-of-life care, and she became certified in Chemotherapy Administration and Biotherapy, as well as obtaining her specialized Oncology Certification. Jill’s dedication to her patients and team was clear, and over the next 10 years, she was an integral part of the oncology unit’s success.
Jill then took on a new challenge as the manager of the Coumadin Clinic, where she provided care and educational opportunities to patients and their families. This included a wide range of responsibilities such as dietary changes, medication titration, serum lab monitoring, and primary provider collaboration. During her tenure at the clinic, Jill also played a key role in developing a training program for new nursing staff across the Northwestern Region for Guthrie Medical Group. As a leader, she ensured that every new staff member received a customized training program tailored to their individual skills and experiences.
In addition to her leadership and educational skills, Jill also maintained staff records of Basic Life Certifications. She organized the certification documents and developed a program for leadership access and monitoring certification needs. Her committed work at the clinic led her to her next challenge as a Registered Nurse Case Manager for Hospice and Palliative Patients. Through her work, Jill led members of the Interdisciplinary Team, developed a resource network with primary care physicians, community resources, and families in Chemung County, New York.
Today, Jill is the Lead Clinical Skills Educator for a renowned nursing program in the northeast, where she shares her philosophy that learning is a lifelong process. Every day brings new experiences that can improve your practice, and Jill is passionate about helping others find those opportunities. Her dedication to her patients and students is evident, and she looks forward to working with students one-on-one to guide them toward NCLEX success.
